Week 2 using only Claude Code to design. Don't think I can ever go back 🔥 Had a ton of fun making this dashboard.

This looks great Steve! One thing I always struggle with when I skip a dedicated design tool and go straight to code is the early prototyping/ideation phase. Are you using it for that too?

So far I haven't needed to do anything like that. This particular design I made for an internal tool. We just used ChatGPT to help us figure out what we wanted to include on the dashboard and it gave us a prompt to use on Claude Code. We refined it a bit then I just started designing high-fidelity. FWIW the sidebar/search stuff is unnecessary for what we're using it for. Just added it to make the design look cooler 😅 If I was designing a much deeper app I *might* jump into a tool to draw some sort of site map but I would go right to Claude for the prototyping phase.

That's very interesting. This week I started building a budgeting app, a lil' personal project I've been wanting to work on for quite some time to replace my current manual tracking in Airtable. I was over here maybe gonna pull out Figma for some early prototyping, but I...

already know what I want to include in the app, so to your point, maybe I'll try to use Claude code to see what it could help me generate design-wise. Do you find yourself looking much at the code when designing something like this in Claude Code?

this is the designer/dev gap collapsing in real time. the handoff was always the bottleneck. when the person with the taste is also the person shipping, the output quality jumps and the iteration loop shrinks to nothing.

Im curious how did you described this date period selection switcher. All shadows, radius, spacing, typo color etc. It still easier for me to design these components in figma and just give it to cluade instead of prompting

been using claude in cursor for my saas and honestly same. the speed of going from idea to working ui is wild compared to doing it manually what's your workflow like? i'm still figuring out the best prompts for design stuff

This looks extremely polished. Did you have Figma mcp connected or something like that, or did it come up with the style? Great work nevertheless!

Designers who code just became the most dangerous hire

Claude's good, but real algo is better. Ever tried running a bot on Polymarket?

Beauty! what are your thoughts on codex for design?

week 2 is exactly when it stops feeling like cheating. what's wild about your use case is that you're using a code-first tool for design decisions. I've been doing the reverse, using design prompts to drive code architecture. the boundaries are blurring faster than expected.

Been playing with these tools and pretty impressed. Struggling to get designs exactly how I want them.

All you ever see is generic dashboards on these examples, nothing ever focussed on solving user problems

Hot take, most people confuse polish with leverage. The winners ship faster and learn in public.

Building dashboards with Claude code is fun and you get the instant feedback on what you did wrong.
