A fun-filled trip to Malvan ended in tragedy after a 25-year-old tourist from Sangli died following a dive into the shallow end of a swimming pool at a resort in Vayari. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. The deceased has been identified as Shrenik Milind Takale (25), a resident of Islampur in Sangli district and originally from Kasba Sangaon in Kolhapur district. According to police and local sources, Shrenik had travelled to Malvan with a group of 10 friends for a weekend getaway. The group was staying at a resort in Vayari, where they were spending the afternoon enjoying the swimming pool. While some friends were swimming, others were dancing around the pool. As music played, Shrenik joined in the fun and climbed to an elevated spot before diving into the pool. Shrenik landed in the shallow section of the swimming pool, which was only about four feet deep and meant for children. The impact caused his head to strike the bottom of the pool with great force, leaving him with severe head injuries. Initial reports suggest that he jumped from a height of around eight to ten feet without realising he was diving into the shallow end of the pool. His friends immediately pulled him out of the water and rushed him to Malvan Rural Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin. After being informed about the incident, his father and other family members reached Malvan later that night. Police conducted a spot inspection and registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation into the incident is underway. The heartbreaking incident has sparked discussions about swimming pool safety, especially the importance of checking water depth before diving. Family members said that discussions about Shrenik's marriage had recently begun, making the loss even more devastating for his loved ones.
