Weird ATC audio, Abraham Lincoln documentary get's broadcast on IAH - Houston’s Tower frequency. Tower controller claims he didn’t hear it. This happened early this morning. This is a little more serious than the random meow on 121.5 Audio via ATC

@theATCapp @LadyAstroJet As a controller, I’ve had this happen several times. It’s not necessarily nefarious. It’s just a weird frequency overlap. I haven’t had it happen with the newer antennas.

@theATCapp @LadyAstroJet But everyone hears it, including this receiver site, which is either at the airport or with line of sight of the airport, but the tower doesn’t hear it, that’s the part. I find odd.

@theATCapp @LadyAstroJet Make sure you guys keep reporting it. Atc has to fill out a report. If tech ops is ignoring it, tons of reports forces them to act. Not saying this is actually happening, but report early and often.

This happened to us--rock music was coming through during an incident transmission on the ground w/air support-inter-agencies. It turned out- someone in Helo/Vehicle participating in transmission- previous to transmission-had music plugged into their audio system that somehow rolled into the transmission out of the blue. It was freaky-everyone heard it-it did not start out at beginning of incident-it started about 1/3 of the way through. Question: Who was listening to this documentary and on what system and how did it roll into the transmission.

@theATCapp @LadyAstroJet You can buy cheap comm gear, then use it for your amusement by making fake calls etc. Some years ago several people were prosecuted for making false distress calls on the marine VHF channel 16. Don’t 🤔this is a pilot issue, could be anyone.

@houstonairw @theATCapp @LadyAstroJet Pilot in his hotel room with a handheld radio watching TV. Accidentally left the radio on and the mic gets keyed. (These things are notorious for knocking on). Out of LOS for the tower but not for the pilots (and receiver which is likely close by).

@theATCapp @LadyAstroJet My theory is some lower frequency equipment, and due to poor filtering, hit a harmonic that happened to be tower’s frequency. Might have been half or a third or a quarter or a fifth of the power but with line of sight, good reception in the air.
