I have followed Russian Vs American ISS (International Space Station) crewed missions to with great interest. The differences in their approaches are quite striking. While Russia's #Soyuz spacecraft takes less than 4 hrs to get to ISS, SpaceX's #Dragon takes more than 24 hrs to rendezvous with the station. Return journeys also differ significantly. Soyuz uses a single parachute to descend/land (on dryland in Kazakhstan) while Dragon deploys multiple parachutes before splashing down in the ocean (Florida /California coasts). Soyuz crew recovery is relatively straightforward due to dry land landing. Crew recovery for Dragon is a bit complicated requiring ship, boats and choppers. Also, on re-entry, Soyuz capsule appears to experience modest burn, whereas Dragon's burn seems more intense. But yes overall, it's thrilling to see how these two highly successful spacecraft modules accomplish the same mission using very different engineering philosophies. #Dragon #Soyuz #ISS #Spaceflight #Mission75
