As I explained during my recent testimony before Congress, the state of California has been telling educators for many years that they are legally required to comply with children’s requests to hide their gender identities from parents. No more! Yesterday, a federal judge ruled that these secrecy policies are unconstitutional and ordered the state to include this statement in all relevant educator materials: “Parents and guardians have a federal constitutional right to be informed if their public school student child expresses gender incongruence. Teachers and school staff have a federal constitutional right to accurately inform the parent or guardian of their student when the student expresses gender incongruence.
