The Election Commission has bowed to the demands of Hon'ble CM Mamata Banerjee and Shri Abhishek Banerjee. Voters listed under ‘Unmapped’ or ‘Logical Discrepancy’ now no longer need to appear in person for hearings. From now on, those working in other states, students, patients under treatment, government and military personnel, and NRIs will not have to be physically present. “This is a major victory for the people of Bengal,” said Hon’ble Minister Dr Shashi Panja.

It is unfortunate & despicable that BJP is targeting All India Trinamool Congress govt in Bengal by politicising incidents at Sandeshkhali. It’s a well orchestrated exercise before the Lok Sabha polls against the one CM who is standing up to them. Mamata Banerjee has already made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for crimes against women and there will be a thorough investigation. No party has done as much for women as TMC with welfare schemes and women’s representation. This is in stark contrast to the BJP’s silence during the women wrestlers protests and incidents of heinous assault in BJP ruled UP. 83 lakh women have benefitted from Bengal’s Kanyashree schemes. For BJP to call for Presidents Rule in Bengal clearly reveals its intent to destabilise a popular and delivery oriented government.

These remarks were made by TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee, who is also a member of the Standing Committee on WAQF. According to him, any location where Muslims offer Namaz would automatically be considered a WAQF property. This suggests that public spaces, such as roads, railway tracks, airports, parks and other areas, used for Namaz, on one pretext or the other, could be claimed as WAQF land. Under this interpretation, large portions of land, including significant areas of Kolkata, will be transferred to the Muslim community. If such views are encouraged for electoral gains, the Bengali Hindu community could face significant challenges, potentially even risking displacement from West Bengal, their homeland. Mamata Banerjee and the TMC will ensure complete annihilation of Hindus in Bengal, just like in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
