Here’s a terrible memory from six years ago today, also a Friday, from my 15 days locked in COVID jail at a Dead Sea hotel after arriving back in Israel. Soldiers running the place did a “Shabbat Shalom” ceremony for the inmates many of whom, based on the screams from the windows were taking the solitary confinement well. Fifteen days locked in a hotel room with a small window, nasty food deposited by armed men in hazmat suits, and unreliable WiFi. Let’s not do that again. What a stupid time that was.
