I belive i was the kart behind this daisy in this race. On screen I saw them try the trick but they fell sooner and before the finish line. So i believe the game registers this as a failed attempt and dumps them behind the racers that passes them.

Never crossed the finished line properly. Big W by the game to punish players trying to rig the game.

The game might not count your placement until lakitu picked you up, voiding out messes with the placement

Thats actually the fastest way to end the race and people do it in time trials on lap 3

It still counts you in the race despite finishing because of the respawn? That... is strange to put it lightly
