People think culture dies when outsiders (vultures) exploit said culture's resources for profit, but that's only half true. The real way cultures decay and expire is from within. It's scary because no matter how hard they try to erase the contributions of Graff Writers, DJs, Rappers, and Breakers who contributed to the formative years of Hip-Hop when it initially began flourishing, none of them can just erase what I know took place from the records like it never happened. Yet, I've been witnessing the deletion of important Hip-Hop history for the last two years. Zoomers are being re-educated to hate the diversity in talent and "race" that makes Hip-Hop remotely the culture I've been studying, NON-STOP, since 1979. Forty-five years of collecting park jam tapes, battling B-boys from all over NYC at USA Rollerskating Rink (69th Street and Roosevelt Avenue), writing Graffiti, Rapping, and, of course, DJing have made me wonder if the ideas I have been fed about Hip-Hop being "universal" have survived today. I think not because some of our legends are rewriting HIp-Hop history to their liking. At the rate we're going, I firmly believe the genuine, authentic concept of Hip-Hop is bound to disappear, and I won't mourn its death. That may sound like a messed up statement, but after this weekend, I'm convinced Hip-Hop needs to die.

The VIBE revival got me thinking about how much magazines shaped the culture back then. A Destiny's Child stan literally launched one of the biggest hip-hop/R&B outlets bc of them. Devin, founder of Rap-Up, was 15yo when he started the website. The first issue of the magazine dropped in July 2001 - all inspired by his love for Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child.

People always talk about the things Prince Harry left behind or gave up for Meghan; it’s always the man who gets credit, but never the woman. If you go back in time, you will realize how much Meghan has left behind and sacrificed for Prince Harry. She gave up her whole life, career, and everything to be part of #TheRoyalFamily. Yes, she gave up everything to be part of #ThatFamily, only to end up being mistreated and abused by his racist family, his jealous and abusive brother (#PrinceWilliam), his racist father (#KingCharles), his racist mother-in-law, and his racist, jealous, mumbling, and unaccomplished sister-in-law, #KateMiddleton. Kate used her white tears against the biracial Meghan. When PrinceHarry told Meghan to pack her things, saying, "We are leaving," he didn’t only save her; he did for her what she did for him—he returned the favor. This is another scene that got me. Neen wasn't particularly fond of Maylin but when she saw her calling Runch, she didn’t ignore or disconnect the call, instead, understanding it might be an emergency, she answered it; upon hearing that Runch’s mom had fallen, she immediately informed Runch (she didn't even once ask Runch why he had given Maylin her number) —— Not only that Neen left her own parents’s event midway to go with Runch to support her and check on her mother in law’s well being, who never miss a single chance to humiliate and throw hands at her😭 ——- She was being all kind and giver and what did Runch do in return, she YELLED at her (we can see how HURT Neen looked😭) when it was her mom who started bad mouthing her first😠— Yes, she did tell her mom later to put a stop to all that, but there was no need to yell at Neen when she was being so supportive and nice towards her— Especially in front of her evil mom, who was already hostile towards Neen — There are certain threats of Runch's that prevent her from being a good wife; she never try to understand Neen or prioritizes her first but her mom— even when her mom is at fault, whereas Neen always makes Runch her top priority and consistently supports and understands her😩
