As someone transitioning into cybersecurity, incident response is one area I’ve really enjoyed learning about. Preparing before something happens makes such a difference when every minute counts.

A written incident plan is only useful if the team has practiced it. Test what happens when email, identity services, or the primary admin account is unavailable. Those exercises tend to expose missing contacts and access dependencies before a real outage does.

Step 8 is the one everyone skips. An untested incident response plan is just a PDF. I drill ours every quarter, 5G core included.
