We’re committed to protecting leaseholders. That is why we are tackling unregulated and unaffordable ground rents through our Leasehold and Commonhold Reform Bill.

Deliver it now! The average life expectancy is 80, we can’t keep millions of people trapped in a state of stress and anxiety for a significant proportion of this. Leaseholders need action now to turn their hellholes into the homes they worked so hard to buy @mtpennycook

No one trusts Leasehold anymore. With five million people in homes that cannot be sold at a realistic market value the market is stagnating. Building more substandard houses is not the answer. Free the 5 million and we will once again have a functional market.

So when will I be able to buy my freehold at a reasonable price?

Any chance you could get on with it? I’m being fleeced for £700 a year more than non-fleecehold roads nearby, who only pay council tax. I pay full council tax TOO. Apparently council tax doesn’t cover ‘estate management’, in which case how do non-fleeceholders do it? Magic? 🤷‍♂️

When do prosecutions start and jail sentences start for builders known to you, @mhclg to have built in breach of safety regs?? Evidence sat in your Ministry’s BSF files. What action are you going to take against them?Or is UK a truly corrupt country?Ball in @UKLabour court.

No one is buying Leasehold anymore. Its a scam that has allowed freeholders and managing agents to abuse the system. What is more interesting though is that no one is giving a timeline on when things are changing. @UKLabour

Seriously? It’s service charges that need regulating. They can be increased at any time to any amount, unless an appeal at tribunal wins. Most ground rents don’t increase, & even escalating GRs are fixed by lease terms. These bland statements are the opposite of reassuring!

Homeowners are being fleeced on unadopted estates, leaseholders and people suffering home safety issues are suffering the loss of their homes. Labour must deal with ALL home ownership problems as a matter of urgency.
