Pune’s traffic congestion has reduced by 53%, and the traffic speed has increased by 10.44%, according to Pune Police. This improvement is attributed to the implementation of the Adaptive Traffic Management System (ATMS), integration with Google Maps, citizen feedback, and social media monitoring. We reviewed progress on several fronts today which are Technology-driven policing, to maximise use of HD CCTV surveillance, Integrated Command & Control Centres in all commissionerates , Intelligent Traffic Management Systems, AI and smart monitoring for stronger crime prevention and faster emergency response. 12 Mobile She Toilets are already functional across the city We decided to have 12 more so that each of 12 zones in the 3 municipal corporations have two each . 2,306 cameras operational under Phase-I, with 862 more underway in Phase-II. Instructed all cameras be kept fully functional at all times. Pelican Signals (Pedestrian signals) to be active now at 77 locations which will be attempted to be utilised by using traffic volunteers to help pedestrians cross over . 🚨 Ford’s deadly 401 speed gamble While big rigs continue to kill and injure Ontarians, Premier Ford is increasing speed limits along major highways. On July 11, 2026, a clear afternoon on the eastbound 401 near Townline Road in Cambridge turned deadly. Nine vehicles collided in a massive pile-up. A 44-year-old man from Kitchener was airlifted but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, and fifteen others were injured. All eastbound lanes were closed for ten hours. A transport truck driver was arrested for dangerous driving and later released pending investigation. More and more, this is no longer an isolated tragedy on North America’s largest – and Ontario’s busiest – highway. While transport trucks make up roughly 3% of vehicles on the road, they are involved in 12% of fatal crashes. At least that’s what Auditor General Shelley Spence said in her May report, which detailed just how dangerous and inadequate commercial truck driver training has become in the province. The report detailed how private career colleges were skipping required hours, cutting programs from the mandated 103.5 hours down to as little as 59 or 81, in some cases.
