While I applaud the initiative, I sincerely hope you don't regret it. The choice of PHP and MySQL says a lot about the technical knowledge of who is in charge of the project, and given what it is meant for, it will be a huge target for hackers.

Based on what you said in your video, @Fidias0, about creating an app for direct democracy where European citizens can actively participate and vote on decisions in a secure, transparent, and interactive way, here is how you should look at structuring it. You should use blockchain technology, specifically @Algorand for the backend, and @worldcoin WorldID for identity verification. Here’s why: WorldID ensures only real humans can participate using zero-knowledge proofs, preventing spam, Sybil attacks, and fraudulent activity... all while maintaining privacy. WorldID protects user data by not storing personal information like names or emails. Instead, it uses cryptographic techniques to verify users uniqueness without compromising their privacy, ensuring data is secure and anonymous. This aligns perfectly with your goal of trust and fairness. Algorand, on the other hand, is scalable, secure, and can be configured for either transparency or privacy, depending on the use case. Its architecture allows for reliable, tamperproof recording of votes and decisions, which is critical for ensuring trust in a democratic system. To make it user friendly: 1. Users could sign up with WorldID or optionally a government-issued ID for seamless onboarding and identity verification. 2. Votes could be tied to temporary tokens, tickets or smart contracts, ensuring fair participation without compromising privacy. 3. Results, updates, and decisions could be recorded and visible on-chain for full transparency or limited to authorised users if privacy is needed. All can be executed via smart contracts on the blockchain. This structure not only scales well but also integrates trustless systems into your app. Adding a DAO or some sort of governance system where verified users can vote on updates or community proposals ensures long term engagement and decentralised governance. Blockchain also ensures accountability and reduces operational risks while aligning with the direct democracy vision you want to achieve.

The app has to be open source for people to be able to check if everything is well.
