An angry union thug who personally benefits from exports as it means he has a job. Prior to the Ukraine war we did not send much diesel outbound because Russia supplied diesel around the world. We kept that diesel here which kept our prices low and our supply adequate. The UK and Europe were buying Russian fuel. The same people who enabled Zelensky to destroy Russias refineries. So Trump stepped in and supplied energy to them and we have seen our prices and bail ability suffer ever since. As soon as the war is over and Russia rebuilds its refineries, our so called allies, like the UK and the EU, will go back to buying from Russia. These countries do not give a damn about America. Why should Americans suffer from high prices and lack of supply today just to keep them afloat.

What you seem to miss, is the precedence that would justify nationalization of oil assets. If America banned oil & gas exports in our time of need, it would justify the nationalization of assets by other countries, in their time of need. Trump is trying to get Americans to rebuild Venezuelan assets, and nobody is interested, due to their history of nationalization and corruption. Do you really want to justify their mentality, by doing the same? The UK used a "windfall tax" on their North Sea assets, resulting in the shutdown of production, AND the closing of refineries. Those refineries sure would help alleviate the diesel fuel refining capacity right now, wouldn't it? Knee Jerk politics is half the reason for our pain at the pump, do you really want to make it worse?
