We're not talking about world models enough. We're obsessed LLMs, but LLMs understand text, not reality. They are map-readers, not explorers. A robot arm doesn't have to break 1,000 actual cups to learn how to hold one. It simulates the grip, detects the slip, and adjusts its force in... its internal world model first. It learns in milliseconds, safely. We don't just ask an AI to hypothesize based on what its been trained on; we use a world model to simulate how a theoretical drug molecule binds to a virus, accelerating discovery from years to minutes. This video is some clips of my favorite worlds I've been making in World Labs , who just opened up their private beta to the public this week. In the private beta, I spent hours spinning up worlds either from prompts or via uploading images (like this one of Roble gym @ Stanford). Some of the worlds here are public creations from other users, since you can post your worlds to a feed for others to explore in (it's a pretty fun social product, walking through worlds from other ppl's imaginations).show more

A fun way to try the new Claude Fable. I asked it to train a bot using RL to navigate 3D worlds created with SpAItial AI. This is all running in the browser including RL training! Link to demo and code in comments What you can do: -> Train a bot from scratch, watch it learn in minutes, then drop it into a world it has never seen and it keeps navigating obstacles. -> The worlds are real scenes generated from a text prompt or a photo via the SpAItial AI API (you get a splat + a collision mesh). -> Mesh is made into a 2D walkability + height grid that the RL environment runs on. -> The trick to generalization: the policy only ever sees egocentric inputs. A 16-ray lidar, the goal's body frame, and its speed. No global coordinates, no map. So it learns navigation, not a memorized world.

In our research lab, we are building “real-time dreaming” - the ability to generate fully playable video worlds prompted from any text or image. Our real-time, action conditioned world model (currently running internally at 16fps at 832x480p) is trained on a combination of data, including proprietary Roblox 3D avatar/world interaction data. World models are different from multiplayer engines in that they store state and memory in video latents. Roblox is multiplayer, and we are actively researching optimal ways to simultaneously store state for thousands of players, and keep them in sync with their environment. Our world model leverages database technology which stores all user interactions on Roblox in a vector format that can be used to re-render video and interaction from any camera angle. We see several immediate uses for our Roblox world model. We will use it side-by-side text, image and video prompts as a way to launch auto-generation of immersive worlds. In Roblox Studio, a creator could walk around and use prompts to “paint” a world and then convert it into a 3D representation or direct to Roblox native as a way for many people to play simultaneously. All of this comes alive as we explore the notion of a “Dream Theater” - where one user is dreaming, while others watch and prompt them. 2/4

From the very start of this interview, one thing is crystal clear: without world models, we will never reach AGI. And right now, Google is leading with its world simulator Genie 3. Google DeepMind just dropped 'Genie', an AI that can generate interactive video games. This is a huge deal. Genie is trained on 200,000 hours of unsupervised public internet gaming videos and can generate video games from a single prompt or image. But here's what's insane: Despite not being trained on action or text annotations, the foundation model can determine who the main character is and enable a user to control that character in the generated world. It does this through its Latent Action Model, Video Tokenizer, and Dynamics Model (will go more in-depth on this in tomorrow's newsletter for those interested). And for those asking, yes, it's research-only and not publicly available (here come the Google memes), and it does come with some limitations, like only currently creating games at 1FPS. But this is the worst AI will ever be. Anyone will be able to create their own entirely imagined virtual worlds soon, and that's a wild sentence to say out loud.

You can explore these AI-generated worlds on #VisionPro in 2 ways 👇 Option 1 is to get a link directly from Marble, the platform from World Labs that has recently opened beta access and allows users to use a prompt image to generate worlds as #GaussianSplatting. You just click on share and get a link you can input in your browser's headset. The viewer has several limitations since you cannot adjust scale, set the starting point or navigate the scene freely. Option 2 is to use Supersplat from Will Eastcott and his team. There you can do some editing and once in VR you can navigate around, looking and pinching to explore the generated portions of the model more freely. Can United States manufacture robots? Matic Robots says "yes." It makes the best floor cleaning robot, that has won many perfect scores from Wired to many others. We love ours. But my trip there to get a tour from AI pioneer Navneet Dalal Navneet Dalal provided some real insights into how hard it is for a hardware company to make hardware in the United States. And how deeply AI is changing consumer electronics products that are going to be in many more homes soon. In this first part (Part II coming tomorrow) we get a look at how long it took for this company to go through prototypes to a shipping product. In the second part, you'll see the scaling hell that it takes to even ship a few thousand robots and the kinds of problems that scaling up a factory brings. Matic is one of my favorite small Silicon Valley companies. It has found what we call "product market fit." I just came back from CES where I saw many of its competitors, and the Matic wins because of not just the product thinking of Mehul and Navneet Dalal but because of their AI leadership. In a way their robot took many lessons from Tesla, from where to put the batteries to its bet on computer vision, which Navneet has been a pioneer in for years, working quietly behind the scenes. It is about to move into a new location that will allow it to grow to meet the demand that now is showing up (the boxes in its lobby show that it's outgrowing its current facilities). In terms of AI, it has aspirations of making a humanoid too, but it is taking a far more measured approach to getting there. By starting on the floor it can not just build world models based on real world data (customers are given a choice whether to allow its data to be used that way. Most customers choose to keep their data on the robot only, for privacy reasons, but if you opt in you can help them improve their models). They are using that data to understand homes. Navneet told me they hit very unusual situations in people's homes already that they couldn't really predict in simulators, like full-wall mirrors that confuse computer vision systems, or pools and water features in people's homes. Having real customers brings a ton of customer feedback about how to further improve the robot, and, as Navneet demonstrates in the second video, forces them to build a manufacturing muscle memory. Getting teams to work together, figuring out how to solve supply chain problems, from Trump's tarriffs, to a new one that showed up over the past couple of weeks. A supplier for its bags (one of the cheaper parts that goes into the robot) changed the glue it used, which caused robots to fail quality tests and the manufacturing line to stop. Reminds me a lot of the hell Elon Musk faced in its Fremont factory when Tesla was first starting to manufacture its Model 3, which almost bankrupted the company. Off the record Mehul and Navneet 🇮🇳 showed me some of the prototypes and plans for its next products that will show up over the next few years. Certainly not as sexy as Tesla, Figure, 1x_tech, and all the Chinese manufacturers are showing off already, but far better thought out for the typical Western home and AI plays a huge role in its future. It is the product that speaks for itself. It's amazing, and is about to get better this year due to AI. It's the first real vision-only robot to be in my home and I bet it won't be the last from this company. Real honor that they invited me over with my Insta360 camera (another company launched in my home, just like Matic was last year). In Part II we go into the factory.

SITUATION EXPLAINED: A new generation of AI labs are betting that world models are the path to general intelligence that can interact with the real world. We had General Intuition CEO Pim de Witte on MTS to explain what world models are, and why intuitively world models offer a clearer path towards general intelligence than LLMs. For humans, text is a technology for compressing information about the unfolding, three-dimensional world around us and communicating it to other people. When LLMs reason about the world, they do so by reconstructing the world through text. World models work by modeling the three-dimensional world at the architecture level and then allowing agents to interact with that world. Unlike an LLM, which understands space and time through text, world models perform spatial and temporal reasoning natively. General Intuition hopes to use world models to create embodied AI—machines that can reason and act in the real world. But other companies are also pushing the frontier in this space. Odyssey ML today announced a multi-agent world model, Agora-1. Their launch video shows four participants interacting with a real-time world model simulation of GoldenEye, a first-person shooter for the N64. A playable preview of the GoldenEye simulation is available on their site.

He's blaming Israeli nationalism for the worlds problems, this is not a coincidence. Palestinianism is a national movement, and every other country has it too, and they all have bad and good ways of expressing it, but it's Jewish nationalism that is the ultimate curse on the world in his eyes. I also tried to worldify people photos (for Photo AI) but World Labs for safety right now seems to block it off and make it a black square, maybe in the future

Posted up in Wynwood with my TV in a shopping cart. Last year we set a world first by selling an NFT from the back of my van. This year I’m setting another worlds first by selling an NFT from a shopping cart. It’s speaks to the idea that we can do what we want and show our art anywhere we want in the digital age. The shopping cart is symbolic of how we are going to be shopping for art in the future.
