Puck's Dylan Byers says AI has become a priority for Hollywood, with every major studio exploring how to integrate it into production. "Every studio, even A24, is thinking, 'How do we incorporate AI into what we are doing?'" "The signal that those creators sent with films like Obsession and others is that [using AI in filmmaking] can be done and it can be successful. Does it mean that every human is going away? No. I think that most folks will find ways to incorporate [AI] in ways that do not significantly degrade the value of the content that they're making." "But I think the sky's the limit. NIGHTBORNE is the first full test AI film I have made. It was made using Seedance 2.0. I've been experimenting with AI for a couple of years, and it's now at the point where I want to tackle a full feature in this format. This is a 13-minute test start. It was made with real concept artists, and features the faces and voices of 32 real people. Barley Studios will be my new AI studio for creating my own films, the way Oats Studios was for traditional film and VFX. Barley studios Full film in the reply.

If you discover how to prompt, AI is a window into your mind. Most of the time, it takes me a day or two, perhaps even longer to create a 5-15 second sequence with AI. Not because of hallucinations or glitches anymore. AI has advanced far to where it's not about catching mistakes like that and rerolling anymore. Every one of my videos was prompted and described to look exactly how it appears in my head. There are some beautiful instances where it spits out something you didn't expect, but flows with your project. That's the beauty of AI. The scene of the character in red is my friend as well. AI feels like magic.

Manufacturing might not be sexy. It might not get hits. But I loved talking to Rae Jeong, founder of about how AI is changing manufacturing. He used to work in AI research at Google Deepmind, but now works with bringing AI into factories. One thing I came away with? His attitude. He doesn't come across as a Silicon Valley nerd that is gonna push technology down people's throats. It's how you gain trust with people who don't know what an OpenClaw is. As always, if you don't have time to watch an hour conversation I'll post a link to what Grok learned by watching this. It's fitting that AI is now my first viewer (it watches the video as I upload it).

Sora 2 has the capabilities to make an entire anime episode with time and effort. This is a turning point for generative AI models and it is terrifying to think what is next to come. The difference between Sora and Sora 2 is absolutely staggering. Yes, this looks cool. I put the time into it to make it as close to art as possible. This was not simple to make and not just prompting and throwing it in some editor. Every frame is generated of another scene and even the reference image for characters I used to start this project were AI generated. This was all created with 10 second clips pulled apart and chunked out into the final product. Regardless of the imagery you see, I did not directly use any artist's art for this video. This 10-minute video was generated over the course of a week from more than 700 text prompts. It was built on technology trained by scraping the uncredited, uncompensated contributions of countless human artists and animators. The creation of this single video consumed an enormous amount of energy and water, equivalent to powering a home for days and requiring hundreds of liters of fresh water for cooling. But that is nothing. In the 10 minutes you spend watching this, the global network of AI video generators will create over 6,250 more short videos. The combined energy required for that 10 minutes of global creation is enough to power an average household for nearly 2 years. - It's a double-edged sword. While AI uses immense amount of energy has clear immoral issues with scalping the hard work of artists, this also provides those a medium who have potentially spent their life attempting to draw out the ideas in their head and failing to grasp it. My sister is an artist, I grew up always attempting to draw but never could get the image in my head on paper, I've spent the better part of over 20 years to teach myself through watching videos and practice, however I don't have steady hands and frankly have just been unable to make any vision come to life. Which brings me to the conflict here. This would have been a dream of mine to be able to get frames created and flesh out the story in my head. To make this video professionally, it would be an absurd amount of money. A small studio by itself would be over a million dollars just to start up. To hire a studio would be most likely over ~200k. I would love to make this story I have in my head through legit and traditional means, I would love to start a Kickstarter to get funding and hire artists, voice actors, and a production team. However I know that would most likely be an impossible reach that would further fuel the hate. Regardless, I understand the worry this causes. The fear this produces. However, we can't just ignore where AI is currently at and just tell people not to use it or even worse threaten people who use it. People will always use the shiny new toy in front of them, so the real question is how do we either make it work for us and work along side it, or how do we ACTUALLY implement a method to protect art rather than tell people to not use it. Respect your artists. Review their ToS and don't upload their hard work to a model without permission.

He felt compelled to remove it due to the incredible amount of bullying he was receiving. “I guess this is what they call a mid life crisis. But to me the crisis was the 9 years that I was really unhappy." Bookmark this video—it's long but worth watching. It's the personal story of an MIT educated neurosurgeon who dedicated his life to his profession... only to realize that he was sold a lie. He realized that for most of his patients surgery didn't help and in fact it often made their problems worse. Over time he observed that the patients who improved did it through lifestyle. This is true in every field of medicine. Our system is broken and has lost sight of a fundamental truth: For most illness (not all, but most) the best medicine is exercise, nutrition, belonging, sunshine, nature, peace. The video is also a powerful commentary on what it means to be "successful" and happy. His story is eerily similar to my own (see the link in the comments below for more). Like this guy, I made it to the top of my profession then walked away with no plan. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. It's a reminder to... Be careful what you chase, because you just might get it. But also... It's never too late to start over.

It's crazy, I actually side with the "Anti-AI or AI slop" crowd. When the new SAG-AFTRA agreement took affect July 1st, I thought this was a major win for TV, film, artists rights and IP holders. People see viral AI Brad Pit fighting Tom Cruise or rip off American Ghibli Anime and assume anyone using AI to create content has the same background or beliefs. Quite the opposite. Majority of the top 1% of AI filmmakers or AI artists are: pro-AI, anti-theft, pro-ownership. We come from traditional production, have "real artist" friends and colleagues. We educate, hire and collaborate with artists, studios, streaming platforms, and production companies. Meet Uncle Zhao. 30 years of hand animating, now finishing a sci-fi short set in a recycling station town where humans have "evolved" into part-swapping Benchmark Humans just to survive. The full-length version is being redone entirely with Seedance 2.5. he already had over 10 minutes of finished footage when the new model dropped, and scrapped it to redo everything for better quality instead of shipping what he had. It's based on Legend of the Cyber Heroes, a novel on Qidian, and fans have been comparing every frame to the book. Age is just a number when the work looks like this.
