#DearZimbabwe, it's great to see military hardware being displayed in our streets in Zimbabwe🇿🇼. It's time SADC Secretariat realized that all this show is for them. What a welcome! It is still a time tested truth that Section 59 of the Zimbabwe🇿🇼constitution guarantees the right of every Zimbabwe🇿🇼citizen to peacefully assemble and protest SADC Secretariat. Zimbabwe Citizens are a very peaceful people. They are unarmed. The illegal detention, abduction and torture of Zimbabwe🇿🇼citizens around the #SadcSummit is what we the citizens of Zimbabwe 🇿🇼will remember about August 2024. What Mr Mnangagwa and his zanupf cabal are doing to Zimbabwe🇿🇼citizens, that they will do to #SadcCitizens. It's just a matter of time. Zimbabwe has been ranked as the most miserable country to live in based on an economic index that considers its 95% unemployment rate, the highest inflation in the world, bank lending rates, and GDP. Does Emmerson Mnangagwa not get briefed on this, so that he understands what the world sees when engaging with Zimbabwe? What is worse is that Zimbabwe has topped this miserable index chart for three consecutive years. This has been driven mainly by state corruption which is central to Mnangagwa’s repressive rule. Currently there are over 75 prodemocracy political prisoners in jail in Zimbabwe, imprisoned for just meeting to commemorate the day of the African Child and some like Jacob Ngarivhume for just speaking out against corruption. It means Zimbabweans are being send to jail for exercising rights in their constitution, what a miserable place to live in where you get jailed for doing legal things!

I write ✍️ this note as a proud Pan African who is witnessing Zimbabwe taking its seat in the UNSC as rotational member. However, I encourage you to take time to understand his vision and leadership for Zimbabwe. Many who once doubted him have come to see him as a calm, hardworking, and dedicated leader who is committed to the development and prosperity of the nation. I urge you to continue supporting your country, praying for its peace and prosperity, and working together to build a better future for all. While people may hold different opinions, our shared goal should be a united, stable, and progressive Zimbabwe. To the young people who aspire to serve their country in leadership positions one day, remain committed to contributing positively to the growth, development, and success of Zimbabwe. Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Portfolio Committee Chairperson Edson Zvobgo Jnr has argued that the proposal in Constitutional Amendment Bill #3 calling for the President to be elected by Parliament was not foreign to Zimbabwe. He noted that similar systems are used to elect presidents in countries such as South Africa, Botswana, and the United Kingdom. Zvobgo Jnr challenged the double standard, saying it is acceptable when practiced by neighboring nations but criticized when Zimbabwe seeks to adopt the same approach.
