We're rolling out plugins in Codex. Codex now works seamlessly out of the box with the most important tools builders already use, like Slack, Figma, Notion, Gmail, and more.

With plugins, Codex can now support more real work, including the planning, research, and coordination that happens before you write code and the workflows that follow. As an example, the @googledrive plugin lets Codex work across Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides with bundled workflows in one loop.

Under the hood, plugins bundle apps and skills for seamless authentication to your tools, plus skills so Codex is instantly great at using them. Plugins are available in the Codex app, Codex CLI, and IDE extensions.

This is just the beginning. We're shipping more plugins for more use cases over time, and growing the skills library alongside them. Build your own plugins and share them with your team:

@SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail plugins turning codex into a platform instead of just a coding tool is the right move. the agents that win long term are the ones that can talk to your actual stack, not just write code in a sandbox. curious how the auth story works across plugins though

@steipete @SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail why do ai companies ignore adding plugins for website hosting companies like @vercel & @netlify & @hetzner_online … that’s just as important as notion, slack, figma and gmail.

@SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail As predicted! Codex will be just as good as Claude Code this year. They just need to keep shipping. Empower the devs and you'll watch everything fall into place.

@SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail Does that mean I can write my own plug-ins or can I only use your pre-fab'ed ones? The former would be very cool.

@SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail Who needs plugins when you’re deleting the genius (4o) that actually understood the work? You can connect to @Figma, but you can’t replace 4o’s creative soul. Stop the bells and whistles, and give us back the model we actually paid for. #keep4o #keep4oAPI #opensource4o

@SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail This is huge plugins turning Codex into a true multi-tool agent. No more constant tab-switching between Slack, Figma, Notion, and Drive. The Google Drive example looks especially smooth for real workflows.

@SlackHQ @figma @NotionHQ @gmail genuinely cool but calling these "plugins" when Claude Code shipped MCP integration ages ago is bold. the real question is whether Codex can actually hold context across these tools or if it just opens tabs like a confused intern

Three months ago, Codex was trash for knowledge work. Now it's my daily driver. I use it for writing, recruiting, deep engineering work, and everything in between. It even keeps me at inbox 0. I chatted with Every 🧱's head of growth Austin Austin Tedesco on Every 🧱's AI & I about what changed, and why he now spends 80% of his working time in the Codex desktop app too. We get into: - How Codex went from making Austin feel like an idiot to being the place he goes to get stuff done, including complex tasks like writing go-to-market plans using existing material from Slack, Notion, and meeting transcripts. - Why the Codex’s desktop app, which is faster and more reliable than Claude Desktop/Cowork, is the real differentiator. - How I source candidates with Codex by having it identify career arcs, not keywords—my go-to move is identifying organizations likely to teach the skills Every needs for a role, and then find candidates from that pool who have since gone on to work in AI. This is a must-watch for anyone who's wondering whether it’s finally time to give Codex a try. Watch below!
