A lunar version sounds like a good idea. @NASA's Curiosity and Perseverance are car-sized robotic rovers actively exploring opposite sides of Mars to uncover the planet's ancient history and search for signs of life. Maintained and operated by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), both nuclear-powered vehicles have been very successful at navigating two vastly different eras of Martian geology.
