Mike is back and better than ever. Mike ( has undergone a major refresh packed with new features, design improvements, and quality-of-life enhancements. And as always, everything is open source. Here is a summary of the major updates: 1. Legal research Case law hallucinations are a massive problem. To address this, Mike's assistant can now produce grounded citations backed by case law from CourtListener. The integration is tight and highly intuitive. Every answer includes links to cited cases, along with supporting quotations from judicial opinions to substantiate each proposition made by the AI. The assistant also researches cases in much the same way a lawyer would. It retrieves potentially relevant authorities, verifies the accuracy of citations, and searches for keywords that align with the research topic. Support for additional jurisdictions will be added soon. 2. Improved user interface (UI) The UI has been redesigned around Apple's Liquid Glass design principles, giving the application a cleaner and more minimalist feel down to every modal and button. Mike is designed to be a place of calm where lawyers can focus amidst the chaos of legal practice. 3. Version control Lawyers are familiar with saving documents as new versions in document management systems such as iManage and NetDocuments. Mike now brings this workflow into projects by allowing users to save new versions on top of existing documents with a simple drag-and-drop action. This introduces order and clarity to matters where redlines and document versions can quickly become confusing, especially when there are five different files named "Final Execution Version." 4. Data control Users can now export their data and permanently delete their data directly from the Settings page. 5. Security Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now available. Users can enable MFA to protect sensitive actions within Mike, such as data deletion, and can also optionally require MFA during login. There have also been numerous backend security improvements since the previous release. 6. MCP connectors This was one of the most requested features. Users can now add MCP connectors directly from Settings. All tokens and secrets are encrypted at rest. In the demo video, I showcase the Neimo MCP from k-ID, a global age verification and compliance platform. Mike can also be connected to other MCP servers, including email systems. The setup process is currently somewhat manual, but one-click authentication and onboarding will be added in a future release. Mike now has a strong open-source community behind it and is improving every single day. The summary above highlights just some of the work that has been shipped over the past month. How to build a 1-person AI company that: - Runs locally - 100% open-source - No human employees, all agents - Real-time collaboration via email Multi-agent orchestration is not new. Plenty of frameworks already let agents hand off tasks, run in parallel, and talk to each other. So the interesting question is not whether agents can collaborate. It is what structure you use to make them collaborate. The common approach is to wire a graph of nodes and edges and reason about the plumbing yourself. It works, but you are learning a new abstraction just to describe who does what. There is a coordination structure we have trusted for a hundred years already: an organization. Every company runs the same way. People have roles, roles have reporting lines, and work moves up and down that chart without anyone relaying each message by hand. Map that onto agents and the whole thing gets intuitive. You lay out an org chart, each agent fills one role, you talk to the person at the top, and the org sorts out the work between them. You already know how a company works, so you already know how to run one here. There is no new abstraction to learn. That is exactly what Alook does. Each agent is a live Claude Code or OpenCode session with a defined role, a reporting line, and its own email inbox. The agents coordinate over email, the same way a team would. And it all runs locally through a runtime on your own machine, so nothing leaves your setup. You bring your own agent too. Claude Code and Codex both work, and if you would rather stay fully open source and local, OpenCode works the same way. To show how this feels in practice, I set up three agents as a small sales team. Vi is the one I talk to. I hand Vi a goal, and Vi routes the work down the chart. Neile runs prospect research. Vi passes the target criteria, and Neile reports back a ranked list of names, roles, and companies, each with a suggested angle and a confidence score. Lliane runs outreach. Vi hands over the messaging angle and follow-up cadence, and Lliane reports back on emails sent, responses received, and any deal that needs escalation. I never relay a message between them. Neile and Lliane report to Vi, and Vi updates me in one place. The whole thing is open source and self-hosted, so it runs on your machine with your own agents. It does this by leveraging zkTLS, or “Zero-Knowledge Transport Layer Security”, which allows users to bring sensitive web2 data, such as credit scores or Github details, while maintaining privacy. She sets a due date & reward (paid in LAZY tokens). 2️⃣ Bob sees the bounty on the app & decides to complete it. He writes the code & submits a pull request (PR) on GitHub. (in other words, he asks Alice to check his work) 3️⃣ Alice then reviews Bob’s work (pull request), and has two choices: ❌ Reject it → Bob gets nothing ✅ Merges it → Code accepted & added to main project 4️⃣ Once Bob’s work is merged, zkTLS generates a proof, which confirms that Alice did merge Bob’s work into her project. 5️⃣ The proof is then verified, and if valid, Bob’s reward is instantly claimable, without having to rely on some third party to release the reward, or without Bob having to go through some intricate process.
