We've added a new command to Claude Code called /insights When you run it, Claude Code will read your message history from the past month. It'll summarize your projects, how you use Claude Code, and give suggestions on how to improve your workflow.

This is great. We have built something similar but for the whole team. All our devs install a plugin that uploads their sessions automatically and then we run real-time analysis on those. We even calculate the ROI of CC.

Pretty cool! I just tried it out and it very heavily over-indexed on my most recent chat. Every suggested improvement was related to the most recent chat.

i've tried my own versions of this many times and found it very tough to guide it towards genuinely useful "global insights", tended to get a lot of vaguetweakslop unless i sent it to explore pretty specific rabbit holes or use cases. excited to see how well tuned this is !

This is such a cool tool but seems like it's under sampling in a big way. Anything I can do to get it to look at the full data set?

If you want personal insights effortlessly created in the background, then automatically injected at every turn, try our new plugin. Never context jockey, cold start, or reexplain yourself again. Honcho makes sure Claude Code knows how you want things done. Just works.

We moved from "Code Completion" to "Workflow Optimization." 🏛️⚡ Having Claude Code act as a high-level architect,This is how you turn a Senior Dev into a 10x Architect. 🥂🚀

Sounds like a feature that works really well with a cheaper and long context efficient model

It's a great feature, thanks for that. But it would be nice if /insights could be followed by instructions on what to focus on during the analysis, or for people who prefer to use a different language, the option to have the report generated in Czech, for example. This way, I had to ask CC to translate it for me—just a tip for when you have nothing else to do 😇

nice idea but there is absolutely something off in the counting. 8,607 hours in less than a month would mean running ~13 Claude instances simultaneously 24/7 and while I am good, I am not that good. There's a workflow combo it thinks I did 148 times that I definitely did less than five. will be good when it's more accurate and not so overindexed on stuff that happened today, tho.

I'm a 51 yo ADHD mom, screenwriter and online course creator WHO CAN'T CODE. I started using Claude Code 44 days ago. Since then I've e.g. vibe coded 10+ apps with CC. I knew I was a bit "hyperfocused", but turns out I really am "exceptionally high-volume power user". 🙈

sooo much potential wasted for a viral effect if the output webpage would be designed just slightly better (so it's more sharable)

I wrote a tool that automatically records each session and summarizes the daily sessions. This perfectly complemented the specific time dimension of "insights." "Insights" are guidelines for human use agents; mine are insights for human guidance gained from daily conversations.

Thank you!! For anyone who has tried both, how does this compare to the compound-engineering plugin's /workflows:compound workflow?

If it reads my chat history from the last month, and reading chat history uses tokens, how expensive is this command?

I got curious how compaction works as a PM, so I did some brain surgery on Claude Code: (Anthropic's been doing really interesting work on context editing - they showed Claude Opus playing Settlers of Catan for 75+ minutes in a single thread by constantly editing the context instead of starting fresh. When I saw that Claude Code has a compaction command with optional custom instructions, I wanted to understand what's actually happening.) Abhishek Katiyar and Aman Khan gave me the key tip: Claude Code stores all your conversation history as text files on your computer. Open a new directory and give Claude Code a task. Here's how to watch compaction happening: 1. Go to your user's root directory 2. Press Command+Shift+Period (Mac) to show hidden folders 3. Navigate to ~/.claude/projects/ 4. Find your project folder and use Cursor/VSCode to open it (there's a reason) 5. Install the JSONL Gazelle plugin (open source, thank you Gabor Cselle!) 6. Open the most recent JSONL file - each row is a message in your conversation 7. Run the compact command in Claude Code with custom instructions 8. Watch what happens in the file What I learned: When you compact, Claude Code doesn't just summarize and delete everything. It creates a "compact boundary" in the conversation file, writes a summary of what happened before, but keeps the full original conversation (!!!!) The new thread can still retrieve any details from before compaction if needed. That is so damn cool. Why this matters: What you're getting in Claude Code is similar to what Anthropic ships in their developer SDK - so inspecting your daily tools is how you build real product intuition. The best way to understand AI systems is to open them up and look inside. Everything is text files.
