Prince's 'last guitar' made by East Sussex craftsman: The hand-made 'Purple Special' guitar was made from cedar, carbon fibre and gold plating. A purple and gold electric guitar believed to be one of the last Prince owned before he died was built in a small one-man workshop in East Sussex. Simon "Gus" Farmer, from Heathfield, began working on the guitar nine years ago. It was only at the beginning of March that Prince received it before showing it off on stage. He apparently liked it so much he ordered a bass guitar. Mr Farmer said: "He didn't have it long, but long enough to enjoy it." Mr Farmer said he built the guitar on spec nine years ago when Prince held a series of shows at London's O2 arena. Friends told him it would be the "perfect" guitar for Prince, but despite his best efforts he could not get it to the musician's attention. "It just didn't pan out and I just moved on to other things," he said. "But it gathered a bit of momentum on forums over the years until eventually he noticed it on social media." After his management got in touch, the guitar was sent to over him at the beginning of March. The guitar was built nine years ago in his Heathfield workshop. "He liked it and ordered a bass straight away which I was working on when he died," he said. "It was amazing to see he had performed with it and liked it so much he wanted another guitar from me. In March 2026, I started on a TUI-based music player called cliamp. It was made as a tribute to Winamp, which we all love. I gained traction on my first post, which was really shitty compared to what I can do now, but nostalgia kicked in. It was a few months ago, included as the default Omarchy TUI music player. cliamp has separate providers, like - Spotify - YouTube Music - Jellyfin - SSH streaming - Local streaming - 30k+ radio channels - And much more It can run in daemon mode (no tui), it has IPC to be controlled by and from whatever you want, a full cli. The cliamp radio channel has exploded, and in the last seven days it has had around 115,000 sessions in total. The goal is to make cliamp even better, so I am working on the architecture. E.g., better IPC, so you can run it in daemon mode and build what you want on top of it to control it. I am also working on a GUI version that will use the IPC, as many have requested a GUI. The end of the Japanese Rocket Fighter July 7 1945 - a prototype Mitsubishi J8M1 crashes in Nagoya (Japan). Pilot Lt. Cdr. Toyohiko Inuzuka dies. J8M1 was a derivative of the German Me163 rocket fighter, on its 1st powered flight after trials as a glider. The engine failed, plane hit a building attempting an emergency landing. After this accident, none of the remaining J8M1s flew before the Japanese capitulation in August. Last time I saw Bob Weir was in Boulder on 4th of July weekend in 2023. Dave Matthews sat in for a Watchtower > Knocking On Heavens Door > The Weight encore. The last video I have in my phone of Bobby is him telling the crowd to “put your load right on me.” How many times did we do that in one way or another? Sitting here now, it feels like a perfect ending for my journey with the music… So many days driving high mountain roads with the background sounds of some Bobby project making the colors even brighter. So many times when I found comfort in the music while dealing with grief and loss. Plenty of days where I felt lost and a lyric landed a little differently and set me down a good thought pattern… None of us get forever, but Bobby’s life will echo on in the songs we play for ourselves and our children for years to come. I can't believe I'm sharing this, but here is 13 year old Tom, vlogging on his youtube channel from his bedroom. This a video from a channel long since shut down, from the year of our lord 2010. None of it is my proudest work - but I got better as I got older. I learned skills and made friends, some of whom I still know to this day. Making these silly videos over time taught me so much about video editing, talking to cameras, and being effective on social media. I failed a lot before I got better. But I had the chance to try. I developed skills that have helped me enormously in adult life. Had I not been able to make silly videos on youtube - and get motivated/excited about thousands of people watching them - my subsequent life would have certainly looked very different. Some might argue that would have been for the better, but it would have certainly been for the more boring.

Following my post about Dojo's TTPoE communications protocol that replaces TCP, I want to learn about the Etherloop protocol that Tesla uses in the Cybertruck. Turns out it's the 2nd protocol that Tesla invented, and it also rides on top of Ethernet, but not the same Ethernet that we're all used to. And while researching this I came across a bunch of other related information. It's too complex to put in X posts, so I made and narrated a 24 minute Powerpoint (sorry!) presentation about it all.
