We've been testing Memory (short-term and long-term) on Perplexity for a while. The results are great, and we are rolling it out widely. You can ask personalized questions, questions about past chats, and use any model or search mode with personal context (both apps and web).

Relevant details from your past conversations are contextually pulled up in an agentic manner for much better responses.

We're very transparent with how exactly Perplexity understands you as a user, and let you control that, on your Settings page. And all incognito mode searches are never used for building your Memory profile.

memory is always the challenge and if you can pull off a great way to connect the dots the experience gets better but the Ai becomes smarter. Good work guys

I like it, but toggling off should be easier unless I'm missing something. Sometimes the memory causes answers to become extremely biased over time (ex: I tell it once that chocolate ice cream is good, later ask what ice cream I should have, it always says chocolate).

This memory feature has been available on ChatLLM at @abacusai for some time. Curious to see how yours compares. I have subscriptions to both Perplexity and ChatLLM.

Memory features typically see 40-60% drop-off in usage after first month unless theyre solving a specific workflow pain point

Focusing on 'Memory' is a distraction. Everyone knows Perplexity is a wrapper. Forget features; you should be pursuing an acquisition and exit strategy instead.
