Holidays have been hard for me ever since my cousin was killed. That loss changed my family forever. Then I lost my mother, then my sister, and over time the circle grew smaller as people drifted apart. Eventually, I found myself standing mostly on my own. But I still feel lucky. Because even without immediate family, I have family everywhere. People around the world who love me, support me, and wish me well. So while I may not have anyone to exchange gifts with, I have the gift of doing what I love, the gift of your support, the gift of my voice, and the gift of life. I have a place to live, and I’m grateful for every person who’s part of my journey. You may not be blood, but you are family. If you’re blessed to still have your loved ones here, be present. Spend the time. Talk, listen, hug, and love deeply. Time is not promised. Thank you for being here.

Today, the 30th of October 2024, marks my 52 years of existence. The birthday I am celebrating after my two previous ones were celebrated in prison under incarceration by criminal regime in Harare. My birthday cakes for the two previous birthdays in prison were thrown and kicked into dust by prison authorities labelled them national security threats. Up to present, I am still wondering how a birthday cake can be a national security threat. The note was written to me informing me that they will not allow my family to deliver my birthday cake as it was a national security threat. Birthdays are days to just thank God for the gift of life, love, and honour the day God procreated you. It is the day you will thank your mother and father for having been used by God to bring you on earth. The parental love to keep you in good health until moments you will be able to fend for yourself. I thank friends, colleagues, family, and everyone who celebrated with me when i was in prison, this special day of mine. I also would like to thank one of the best African poets who made the poem below and those who made the video as a special gift for my birthday. I love ❤️ you all !!!

Honored to be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When I first came to LA from Nashville as a little girl, my family would stay at a hotel on Hollywood Blvd, and I would go on late night walks with my dad when no one would recognize him. We’d have the gift shops to ourselves & buy knock off Oscars and Marilyn Monroe merchandise. To now be cemented on this legendary boulevard, surrounded by the icons who inspired me, feels like a dream. This moment will live forever, thank you to everyone in my life who made it possible. I am grateful to share this star with you.

43 years of Woh 7 Din. ❤️ Some films stay with you forever. For me, this will always be one of them. I have said it earlier and I’ll always say it, that I am grateful to #PadminiKolhapure and #NaseeruddinShah. I always miss them a little extra when it comes to celebrating Woh 7 Din. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t think I’d be celebrating these 43 years today. They made a newcomer like me feel welcome and gave me the confidence I needed to connect with the audience. A big thank you to the Great and Late #BapuSaab for also believing in me and directing me, #KBhagyaraj for writing such a beautiful story, and to my father #SurinderKapoor and my brother Boney Kapoor for believing in me and producing the film. Before Woh 7 Din, I had done a few films, but this was the one that truly introduced me to all of you.
