Important 🚨🚨🚨🚨 The Qur’an does NOT encourage or emphasize having many wives. Polygyny (having more than one wife) is permitted with strict conditions, not promoted. ⸻ The main verse (Qur’an 4:3) The Qur’an says: “Marry women of your choice, two, three, or four; but if you fear that you cannot deal justly, then marry only one.” Key points: •Maximum limit: four wives (not unlimited) •Justice is mandatory •If justice cannot be maintained → only one wife is allowed This verse was revealed in a context where: •many men had died in war •widows and orphans needed protection •pre-Islamic Arabia allowed unlimited wives So the Qur’an restricted and regulated an existing practice. ⸻ Justice condition is extremely strict Another verse says: “You will never be able to be completely just between wives, even if you try.” (Qur’an 4:129) Because of this: •Many scholars say monogamy is the safer and preferred option •Polygyny becomes exceptional, not ideal ⸻ The Qur’an’s general model of marriage The Qur’an describes marriage as: •Tranquility (30:21) •Love and mercy (30:21) •Kind treatment (4:19) These values are easier to fulfill in monogamy, which is why many scholars argue it aligns best with Qur’anic ethics. ⸻ Prophet Muhammad’s practice (important context) •He lived monogamously with Khadijah for about 25 years •All his later marriages occurred after her death •His later marriages had social, political, and humanitarian reasons, not desire •He never taught Muslims that multiple wives are superior ⸻ What Islam actually emphasizes Islam emphasizes: •Responsibility, not desire •Justice, not numbers •Care for women and children, not male privilege ⸻ Conclusion •The Qur’an does not promote having many wives •It limits polygyny and makes it conditional •Monogamy is clearly acceptable and often preferable •Polygyny is a restricted permission, not a command or encouragement

Stop spreading Hate and lies ⚠️⚠️⚠️ Jealous The Qur’an does not explicitly command wife-beating. One verse uses an Arabic word that has been translated as “beat” by some translators, but: •the word has multiple meanings in Arabic, •its interpretation is disputed, and •the Qur’an as a whole and the Prophet Muhammad’s example do not allow domestic violence. ⸻ The key word in the verse The phrase in Qur’an 4:34 is: “wa-ḍribūhunna” (وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ) from the Arabic root ḍ-r-b (ضرب). This root has many meanings, including: •to strike •to separate •to leave or withdraw •to travel •to set forth an example The Qur’an itself uses daraba many times with non-violent meanings, such as: •“Allah sets forth a parable…” (14:24) •“They traveled through the land…” (4:101) ⸻ Traditional interpretation Some classical scholars understood daraba here as: •a symbolic, non-injurious act •no pain, no injury, no humiliation •never the face •never leaving a mark •allowed only after admonition and separation in bed Even under this view, abuse is strictly forbidden. ⸻ Alternative scholarly interpretations Many modern scholars argue that daraba here means: •to separate •to leave •to disengage This interpretation aligns better with: •Arabic linguistics •the Qur’an’s ethical framework •the Prophet’s own behavior ⸻ The Prophet Muhammad’s example (very important) •The Prophet ﷺ never struck any woman •He said: “The best of you are the best to their wives.” •He strongly condemned men who beat their wives In Islam, the Sunnah (Prophetic practice) explains and limits how Qur’anic verses are applied. ⸻ Qur’anic principles about marriage The Qur’an describes marriage as: •tranquility (30:21) •love and mercy (30:21) •kindness and good treatment (4:19) Any interpretation that justifies violence contradicts these principles. ⸻ Conclusion •The Qur’an does not command wife-beating •One verse contains a polysemous Arabic word with multiple meanings •Domestic violence is not supported by the Qur’an’s overall message •Abuse is forbidden in Islam

Well said. Keep it up - we need more righteous indignation and critical thinking and opposition to Islamocrats. This is not a “two sided” issue. Everything said true. I don’t know how anyone especially women - except for utter stupidity - can let this slide! …and education in its current form actually exacerbates the issue!
