That's why character development is so important! You can only hit so hard emotionally if you've taken the time to develop each character's story beforehand. Lost did a great job of that and for many of the characters there are such kickass moments!

This is a rare example where characters actually realize their connections the same episode where we learn it too. It’s powerful maybe the best Jack/Sawyer scene until their fight in The Incident
