You should NEVER be scared your parents would “kill you”. Instead be scared of disappointing your parents because they are such amazing humans. They love you without question, no matter the circumstances. You should be scared of losing their love. Not being a victim their hate.

Before considering this, start with good parents. I was a lucky one!

I had a conversation with one of my uncles about this recently, he told me he wasn’t as bad as he could be because of the love he had for my grandma, his mother, where as with me, there were some situations that i didn’t get into because of the fear of my mother. i do realize that there were some actions that i didn’t take out of fear in hindsight. With that being said I will never hit my kid. Won’t go any further than that out of respect for the living. As adults we must move on from the mistakes made by those against us. Ultimately, all our decisions fall on us…and I should have just rebelled harder. That’s all I can say.

I told my son that we used to say things when I was a kid that people don't say anymore. "Like what?" he asked. "Beats the Hell out of me." I answered.

I always feared my parents' disappointment before any punishment.
