It’s sad that our people think that “the streets” is the only way to have life experiences. Unfortunately that’s how my story started but I promise you, I prefer the life that my children live…

This idea is dumb, everyone is not from the streets. Since when did hiphop only produce street centered music? Growing up we had all sorts of rappers-conscious, gangster, dance/booty shake, backpack, boombap, etc…the idea that everyone has to rap gun bars & moving drugs is dumb

This a dumb ass post from him....if you're a lyricist you're a lyricist...the qualifier isn't for you to be a thug first...most lyricist are very intelligent people with an expansive vocabulary

Being eligible to get in NYU & running the streets rapid just doesn’t add up… NYU just doesn’t let everyone in right

I have footage of me rapping in the streets from 2000 to 2007. I dropped out in 07 🤷🏾♂️

But isn’t rapping in the streets & running the streets two different things. Running the streets gives taking part in street activities

Don’t have to be from the streets to be lyrical.

What he mean they don’t any life experiences? I have a MBA and if I rapped I can have the same life experience as a street nigga. I never gang banged but I know my mental in rap would be more introspective vs struggle/hustle. A lot of that shit has a ceiling… that’s trash logic

1. If that was true, sounds like evolution of the genre via participation to me. 2. Gotta stop acting like every lyricist/rapper from the 80s and 90s was really in the streets like that. Most are the archetype Mickey describes himself as.

He talking about you 🤣🤣🤣

He not tho. He literally called me lol

What he say?🤣🤣

I think the point was more about dudes superficially just putting words together. A majority of that contingent is former college kids. But like you pointed out A LOT of those guys either didn’t actually want to go to college or found their passion for music and left.

tell them to @ me next time niggas really lov surface level depth in music, no story, no punchlines to much just….hot like fire type rhymes and th ‘streets’ is dead nobody ain tryna get a rico or that shit just played out even if u really is getting to it

This dumb because who does Cyhi think he is ?? He basically describing himself . Mickey even got more of a street edge than him . Cyhi another nerdy rapper tbh . Them bars don’t hit you

“You was good in school, why you hiding your intelligence”… I would like for CyHi to expound more. Also waiting on that EGOT album.

CYHII isnt Wrong After This LaRussell Kerfuffle 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

People want to argue against what he’s saying. They’re not trying to understand it. All our fav rappers had a street element. You can be street without selling drugs, being in gangs etc ….if you understand the neighborhoods, if you’re from that environment. U are street.

Cyhi a monster 🔥

Ima be honest because this tells me hes not like paying attention most of the rappers dont make it out of school and I say this to include drill rap and other forms however. And this may not be agreed on you have to be educated to understand the science of rapping im training so

He's just lying

The 80s - 2000s have a good number Emcees and DJs that dropped out of college to pursue music. This isn't a new thing. It goes back to before Run DMC (Run and Daryl McDaniels went to college). Public Enemy Preem Common PMD E-40 Pete Rock Master P Snoop Cube Luda

💯🎯 FACTS FACTS AND MORE FACTS, FACTZ!!!

Nigga cyhi chatting cause if that’s the case Jada went to private school and came from a two parent household…….

We all know who he’s talking about right ?

Cyhi isnt wrong. Its more layered than just what he posted tho. Cause people can definitely experience life outside whether they went to college or not. But if you finished college and got signed soon afterwards, find success, move back home and rap about it over and over... 😂

He could blame his boss 😂

Tell him I said he’s ass.

I think Cyhi point is more so rooted in the fact there’s no authenticity in rap itself anymore more than anything. Not necessarily the streets validating authenticity but more of artists just being themselves. Hip hop doesn’t speak from one’s soul anymore.

Isn’t that Kanye west ? Respectfully Cyhi can rap Excellent , let’s be clear I know him because of Kanye and Ye dropped out of school and became one of the biggest producers/artist of our culture Have ever seen so his point isn’t valid 🤷🏾♂️😩 I’m being nice he sounds real stupid

I get what he's saying. I agree to a certain extent. A rapper being interesting is part of the package, before they even rap a lot of the MCs I grew up on were interesting people and part of that is because of the environment they came from.

i say give him some collegiate bars lmao

A lot of rappers went to college … Ross, Killa Mike, Tity Boi … dont see anything wrong with it

Mr Len, GZA, KRS, Mos Def, Talib, Ice Cube, Chuck D and so many others who are literal scholars yet can still spit some street shit.

Just the same argument Nigga‘s in the NBA have about the players not being from poverty and now they’re legacy/nba kids. What does it mean at the end of the day when the bottom line is are you skilled or not?

His class was nothing but college kids and the one before had nothing but open minded college kids or 1 year attendance. Catered towards college kids and a few street niggas .

Hey man street n!ggas went to school to

I got SN’s telling me they didnt lol
