What causes this appearance in the foot?

piezogenic papules : They show up when pressure pushes the fat in your heel outward, and usually disappear as soon as the pressure is gone. For some people, they’re just a visual thing. For others, they can be a sign of how the foot is handling load.

Piezogenic comes from 2 Greek words Piezo-: “to press” -genic: “caused by” So you’re right - literally means caused by pressure! 👍💡

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

Learnt something new myself - wasn’t aware of this association! 🙏

@jazzycarolanne And if they are in your office they will also have POTS and MCAS along with their hEDS causing their GI symptoms.

@drkeithsiau Yes and likely pain which is a nearly universal sign

Or piezogenic heel papules (piezogenic pedal papules).

I think this is it! Benign papules caused by pressure. There is an association with heel pain and plantar fasciitis, usually due to unfavourable ergonomics and localised strain!

So, my prize? In euros, please.

Here’s your pizza-genic prize! 😜
