We really don’t talk enough about how Sephiroth weaponized Cloud’s love & concern for Tifa here to take control of him & turn him against the one person he wants to protect the most. Tifa is both the lock & key to Cloud’s identity & the greatest barrier to Sephiroth’s control.

I always felt sad when listening to Cloud’s Theme, but this version is so hauntingly beautiful that I can’t bear to listen to it. The only creative reason for Cloud’s Theme to play right as he lifts Aerith’s body into his arms is because he loves her. She is his world.
