Oddly reassuring

Those days where you mum would shout get off the internet your blocking the phone lol

Oh the memories. It was a beautiful sound because the alternative was a busy dial tone

Can anyone explain why it sounded like this?

now all you need is the sound of someone over the connected signal, picking up the second phone handset and saying "wait, is someone on the internet? I need to make a phone call"

And you never knew if after waiting all that time, if you'd actually connect. Such an amazing time to have lived in 😆 Or if someone picked up the phone, you'd start hearing them talk and they jack up your connection.

It’s an under appreciated miracle of our times that we went from connecting to the internet via a landline and a modem in 1998 to WiFi 6 in under 25 years. We also went from 33 KBPS to 850 MBPS. My math might be wrong but I think that’s 25,000 times faster. Wow.
