@WorldPool @nickluck I went last year, doubt I'll go again for the following reasons: •One good race, a couple of decent races, too many boring handicaps. •Terrible transport connections, roads gridlocked, huge queues for taxis, no buses. •Expensive tickets, Queen's Stand the only decent option.

@WorldPool @nickluck Unless in hospitality it's a poor stand in terms of seating areas and this puts the value for money question v much in focus. Do we still need morning dress? why not make that just for trainers and owners and optional for others and I'm a traditionalist...

@WorldPool @nickluck Big meetings the experience is generally poor, unable to get to parade ring, unable to really see the horses in a race or find a TV/place to stand. That's hard to sell when you're going to a sporting event and the main attraction is the animal.

@WorldPool @nickluck Time and again, the answer is simple. Stop ripping of race goers with hiked drink and food prices and they’ll come back.

@WorldPool @nickluck On TV , the main stands and areas around the epicentre of the horses was just like it ever was- an elite area where the Derby experience seemed elegant, sophisticated, beautiful almost and packed. Outside this area the experience diminishes the further away you travel 1 / 2 or 3

@WorldPool @nickluck Since covid crowds not turning up at every racecourse not just epson railway ticket be about 12quid each + entrance + nobody knows jockeys riding 100 per cent no frankie as well next year be same as well

@WorldPool @nickluck I went to the Derby in 1979 to see Troy win. My next Derby was Pour Moi in 2011. It felt like a totally different meeting, 14 years ago it was declining as a spectacle. Having said that, Epsom Downs is a magical place to watch horse racing, I love the place.
