I’m writing this while I’m still in it. Still stressed. Still exhausted. Still after crying. And I’m still working through the night. I need people to understand what this really looks like. The posts you see do not come from some calm, quiet, comfortable life. They are written in the middle of pressure, fatigue, sickness, grief, and responsibility. I take a photo, I write my story, and I post it. Then I keep working. Because I have to. Because my guys need me. Because I cannot give up. Because if I stop, the consequences are real. Every single day, I make the choice to stay here. And yes, sometimes that choice hurts. I am human. I know I could go home. I know there is a beautiful life waiting for me somewhere else. I know what I am missing. I know what rest could look like. I know what peace could feel like. But I stay. I stay because my boys cannot simply go home. I stay because they do not have the freedoms I have as a foreigner under contract. I stay because love is not a feeling here. Love is duty. Love is sacrifice. Love is showing up again and again, even when you are breaking. Right now, I am doing the work of five or six people in this brigade. Not because I have endless strength. Not because I never fall apart. Not because I am some kind of machine. I do it because I care that much. I do it because I am passionate, because I believe in #Ukraine I am a soldier. Not a volunteer. This is not something I step in and out of when it is convenient or I have the energy. This is my duty. 24/7. I save my vacation because when I finally leave for a little while, I do not want a getaway. I do not want a trip. I do not want sightseeing. I do not want Kyiv. I do not want the Carpathians. I want to go home to #Canada. And until the day I can do that, I work. Every post. Every video. Every message. Every fundraiser. I am on duty. Every four to six weeks, I scrape together a few hours to take care of myself and try to remember what normal feels like. But the truth is that I am tired. And some of what I do might look small from the outside. It might look ordinary. It might even look stupid. It is not. Because if I do not do these things, people will die. And yes, they may die anyway. This is war. There are no guarantees here. There are no perfect endings. There is only the fight to give them a better chance, one more chance, any chance at all. YOU give them that fighting chance. And that is why I am asking you, from the deepest and most exhausted part of me, to help. I cannot do this alone. About a year ago I disappeared from making videos. I wasnt able to finish my edge of fate video but before I left I spent ages learning how to make this D2 cinematic and was super proud of it. Im wondering if itll fit into the solo flawless video some how. Be a shame to see it go to waste. Reminds me of the last time I got to create before I had to leave and brings a smile to my face knowing I could make things like this.

I’m going to share this video with my story. I have a VISCERAL reaction when I read takes like this. I have a full time job in an upper-middle class position. I loved my life. I traveled frequently, enjoyed life with my dog and my adult children, I voted in every election, volunteered when I could, and generally benefited from a functioning democracy. I’ve told this story before, but it was literally one conversation with the man who currently represents my district that changed everything for me. Never in a million years did I expect to enter the world of politics. I actually hate the attention. Social media sucks. I’m here because as a grassroots first time candidate, I have to make noise where I can. I’m going to win my election because I am fighting for my hometown, but if for some reason I don’t, I will ABSOLUTELY, happily, retreat back to a grassroots life of background activism where I don’t get called a c**t multiple times a day. This is my 2024 wrap up video. My 2025 video is a slideshow of shaking hands, smiling at events, knocking doors, and living 24/7 to save my community. This is what I gave up. And I have ZERO regrets.
