Today is a defining moment for National Grid as we announce a significant step up in energy infrastructure investment that cements our position as a leader in the energy transition on both sides of the Atlantic. We’re investing around £60bn in networks in the next five years, with over £30bn of that in the UK. This investment will unlock economic growth and enable the increasingly digital, electrified and decarbonised economies of the future. National Grid will support 55,000 more UK jobs by the end of the decade. To finance this unprecedented scale of investment and growth, we’ve announced a comprehensive financing plan including a £7 billion fully underwritten rights issue. This is a huge growth opportunity for National Grid that will bring significant benefits for the whole country.
