What do you make of Arne Slot's point on time-wasting?

Really fair from Slot. Decent guy. Well done. (Interesting comparison with what Gary Neville said (twice) about what he thought the Liverpool players could (or should?) have done to Martinelli! Cool it, Gary!) (from avid Arsenal fan)

@BBCSport In the circumstances, an incredibly level headed & sensible opinion.

Spot on. Anyone rational without an agenda would assume that it was a time wasting tactic. Especially after he crawled back onto the pitch. Doesn't justify what Martinelli did but you can understand his frustration

Stop talking sense, Liverpool fans don’t like that.

Fair play to Slot. It looked like Bradley dragged himself back on the pitch and you can see Martinelli spotted that. It’s nice to see a manager try to rationalise an opponents actions rather than throwing him to the wolves.

The irony is Liverpool players wasted time by faking injury & taking goal kicks in the first half.

Honest and dignified, unlike their fans.

@BBCSport Arne Slot's statement has raised my opinion of him significantly. Many a manager would have jumped at the opportunity for an over the top reaction. Neville take note!! Gabi was wrong, in the heat of the moment, & has rightly apologised. Lesson learnt, hope Bradley recovers soon.

Apart from the “Liverpool don’t time waste” but he’s spot on. Every team does it. Every team.

Ollie Watkins a prime example against palace going down holding his head to stop our attack which didn’t work and got up quickly and carried on, a red card for cheating should be the punishment

I like him now, this is what you call common sense lol this fake outrage is funny. Why wasn’t anyone talking about what Kyle Walker did to dorgu the other night

If only Liverpool fans will listen to him but the IQ in that fanbase is below 60. They've been piling on Martinelli for something that's completely accidental

@BBCSport If a rugby player can recieve treatment and the game continues why not football?

The problem is that a few seconds after dropping the ball on him (which was unacceptable) Conor Bradley can be seen pushing himself further into the field of play, which was probably what made Martinelli think he was time wasting. Two wrongs don’t make a right but…

Arne Slot is just too good of a human full of dignity and class. But thats the problem, people will take advantage of your kindness and that’s exactly what those Arsenal players did yesterday and their fans are doing now They can all get fcked. We ain’t letting it slide

Far too considered and rational for this platform

Slot has said some stupid this things in the past, but Slot is 100% correct with this one.

@dragonlovingLFC Absolutely bang on. Leeds, Arsenal, Newcastle, Burnley, Brentford, Fulham all guilty of it. Game on game. Officials never do enough. Waiting to 90mins to yellow a GK for time-wasting. Things need to change or people will turn off

This man is matured... Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Jason Cundy should be having a regular class with him, they might learn a thing or two from him. Arne Slot is class👏👏👏

Spot on. First normal and rational take on it I’ve seen. Nelli was just stupid, there was no ill intent🤷

lol

I might be sticking my finger in a wasp's nest here, but this is a major problem with football that not enough people admit. It's the "boy who cried wolf" problem. I genuinely don't see it in other professional sports. Diving happens in other sports, but not faking injuries.

Treat the injured player while the match continues. Seems to work in Rugby 🏉

Except Frimpong dived, and Allison wasted time at every goal kick. CB moved more onto pitch whilst on floor. GM shouldn’t have done what he did, he got a card for it, and whilst Slot may not want his team to waste time, they definitely did yesterday, as all teams do when it suits

Anyone with 2 brain cells can figure this one out. Martinelli this, Martinelli that - clearly unintentional and had happens in the game all the time.

Martinelli only acted like this because of the culture Arteta has instilled in his team. Same went for Saka when he collapsed holding his face when the ball clearly hit his hands when Liverpool were on the attack.

@BBCSport Correct

Imagine a role reversal with arteta, hed want players banned extradition and point deductions

@BBCSport If Alex Ferguson gave this speech when Roy Keane injured himself trying to foul Haaland then it would have saved a lot of hassle.

Absolutely spot on. Time wasting and cheating (especially holding your head to stop the game) is rife throughout football. Every club seems to do it. Authorities need to do something and soon

Simple stop kicking the ball out of play when players go down it’ll soon stop.

Every team does it, players going down faking injuries, when you think in a average game of 95mins the ball is in play under 50mins its just crazy. Its also tactical to wind up the crowd, kill pressure the opponents are building pressure

He’s too classy. Arteta last year blamed refs, the ball, and everything in between for why they didn’t win the league. Slot is almost annoyingly gracious.

Admire Arne Slot here ! Hats off.
