I have a 1994 4.3 Silverado. I just finally had to put a transmission in it at 250,000 miles. It still runs great. My other vehicle is 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 liter. It also has 250,000. It is solid in the back country.

I think he is right about serviceability. Car manufacturers do not want people or independant mechanics to be able to service their vehicles. They want to make you bring your vehicle to them for servicing.

yeah bought a courier instead. parts are easy to find, 2.3 pinto engine 1974-2001. turbocharged supercharged TBI TPI twin spark you name it it's probably is available for it. if it blows up, well i got the engine that is in it for $75. fresh out of the field, and drove it home.

The reckoning for these automakers is coming. Their greed is already causing new vehicles to just sit on lots and collect dust because nobody can afford a new vehicle anymore. And, all the new stuff for the most part sucks. I'll stick with my 71 F100.

This is a mechanic's heaven. The engine compartment is far less cluttered than this picture makes it seem. Everything that is commonly replaced can be done in about an hour. But even better than that: Everything you can see in this picture of my 1983 Ford F100, which I bought new and has 300,000 miles on it, is original. Being able to pull the engine in an afternoon is great. Not having to pull the engine in 43 years is even better. List of parts replaced: Starter motor: 3x Water pump: 3x Brake mater cylinder: 2x Carburetor: rebuilt 2x Front crank seal: 1x Radiator: 1x Heater core: 1x Automatic transmission: Original. I changed some seals and gaskets, and put new springs in the valve body. A little more than an hour. Maybe 2 or 3. That AC compressor in the foreground is original, and impressively, has zero leaks. I did change the AC clutch once. I use the AC 100% of the time. I just watched a nightmare video about changing the heater in a new F150. The entire dashboard had to be removed. Here, you remove the glove box and a cover behind it. Like other jobs, it is about an hour.

I will be driving my two 7.3's till the day I die. Ive owned the 99 extended cab since 2001 when I bought it with 70 thousand miles on it. I would drive either one cross country and back with 350 thousand miles on each of them with no worries whatsoever 💪🇺🇸💪

My wife had a 2014 Chevy Silverado, bought it used 1 owner, it had already had the transmission rebuilt, gave us the paperwork as proof, she had it two years and transmission started going out again and it leaked oil all the time. Cheap flimsy plastic everywhere on the truck. We finally got rid of it and she got a early 2000s Tahoe. I will never buy anything over 2005. I drive an old wrangler YJ. Has its issues but its always an easy fix.
