@MishalHusain Yes if UK's @ARCHER2_HPC is expanded then the UK might go up the supercomputer #Top500 ranking. UK top supercomputer only ranks 49th. Well behind those funded by 🇪🇺's @EuroHPC_JU programme - @LUMIhpc, #Leonardo and #MareNostrum in top 10.

@MishalHusain Labour have shocked me with the way they have cut some investments with little debate e.g. this super computer, the new hospitals. They are making the same mistake the Tories made, cutting investment to maintain day to day spending.

@MishalHusain Why does it matter to researchers where the supercomputer is located? I don't worry where the computer housing the BBC website is or the computer housing 'X' is located.

@MishalHusain Years ago the equivalent was at National Computing Centre in Manchester. Only hundreds of cpu but still impressive at the time. I once accidentally sent a hard shutdown command to it while it was running loads of jobs. Covered my tracks & ran away before anyone could find out.
