From Dusk till Dawn has taken on a new meaning in the wake of Sinners. Written by Quentin Tarantino & directed by Robert Rodriguez, this film’s influence on Ryan Coogler & Sinners is impossible to ignore. What’s more is that for my money, this is one of George Clooney’s better performances. I think he has a weird, enjoyable chemistry with Tarantino. This is a film I constantly revisit.

Salma Hayek says she improvised the snake dance scene in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), despite her fear of snakes, after Quentin Tarantino threatened to replace her with Madonna. “Quentin told me, ‘...you’re dancing with a snake.’ I said, ‘I can’t do that… it’s my greatest fear.’” “He said, well, Madonna will do it… and she’s willing to dance with the snake.” Hayek says the fear completely took over her body during filming. “I don’t even remember most of the shoot… I had to go into a trance to do the dance.” And nothing about it was planned. “It was improvised. Because you can’t choreograph a snake… we don’t know what she’s going to do.”
