What Happens If You Shoot A Nuke? 🤔

So, we could stop it with bullets if we all try?

Where were you when Japan needed you

this guy is perfect for that job

So moral lesson, shoot at it multiple times and hope one bullet cuts the detonator

To detonate a nuke those explosive plates surrounding the core have to detonate simultaneously. This keeps the core compressed long enough for the nuclear reaction to occur at an exponential rate. If the explosive plates do not detonate in such a way as to keep the core compressed for that essential fraction of a second, you will have a conventional bomb with radioactive material, not a nuke.

it is stable huh

That's BS. It's true that the explosives in most nukes are extremely stable and wouldn't be set off by anything other than a detonator. However, if the device is damaged, unless a safety system detects it, the nuke will try to go off, creating a fizzle.

If a bullet hits a nuke hard enough to penetrate to the core it will set off a high explosive charge that will not set of a chain reaction. All nukes are ONE POINT SAFE. It is a way to destruct a nuke to keep it from falling into enemy hands if a base or other storage facility is compromised. There is someone trained to do this all you need is a pistole and about 20 feet away> you should live through it but no guarantee.

What if we place a big net 🥅 to catch it

Fr tho why don't they spam Nukes so there'll be a slight chance it gets diffused?

Why didn’t the Japanese do this? Were they dumb?

If a nuke ever drops directly above me I won't forget to shoot it now

Bro you fkinn serious how tf i am gonna shoot Nuke? I will be in bunker that time.

Ah yes, classic Saturday afternoon thoughts—just casually theorycrafting world-ending scenarios like it’s avideo game patch note 💀

Even if you managed to detonate the explosives with a hit, them not detonating in precisely the right pattern would be enough to prevent the nuclear explosion You’d maybe get a fizzle, but most likely just a cloud containing a few kilos of highly enriched uranium or plutonium

So fallout lied to me

I was about to try this. Thanks for the heads up that it wouldn't work.

Just by cutting one cable, the explosion of other explosive lenses cannot be stopped, so it will be a fizzle explosion. That might be smaller nuke explosion or big dirty bomb.

A nonsynchronized detonation of chemical explosives causes an uneven spread of nuclear material without triggering a nuclear explosion, as all explosives must be synchronized and precisely timed. This was proven when a nuke was accidentally dropped over Spain.

Just use iced, my friend Simon dan do it.

Oh so that's why!

Are you sure?

Could he do it?

From this video information we should keep spamming machine gun shots at a nuke. And it would be a very positive idea. Because we want to damage the trigger mechanism keeping it from igniting the core.

Me: I’m being evicted tomorrow night. I’m so riddled with grief at the loss of my wife 10 years ago that I’ve pushed everyone away. I have nowhere else to— Zack D: If a nuke is being dropped on your city

Wouldn't the nuke still go off, just that instead of a nuclear explosion, the fission material is spread around by the explosives that still have functioning detonators?

Igniters are not connected in series.

Nukes aren't real look up when the last nuclear blast test footage was...1961

So shoot a shit ton of bullets at the nuke to stop it? Gotcha

That's not what would actually happen. It would still explode, just the yield would be lower.

Probably the craziest shot in history if someone actually pulled it off.

@grok why don't countries diffuse nukes this way?
