In the 1990’s, i had to have my wisdom teeth pulled. One of the holes left, when they pulled my wisdom teeth, got infected. They packed it with clove soaked gauze. While it worked and the infection resolved, it was the worst tasting and smelly thing I’ve ever experienced. Absolutely gaging.

Vicodin couldn't help my dry socket after wisdom teeth yank. Clove relieved the pain within 5 seconds.

Speaking from experience sucking on cloves does relieve my toothache headache. It doesn’t cure the problem for gave me relief without taking Tylenol or advil…
