What happens when you don't pause Fatal Frame:

Fatal Frame II, III, and IV have different versions of this too. I'll also share them later. From what I understand, this was first done as a protective measure against screen burn on CRT TVs. But then of course it turned into a Fatal Frame tradition.

heh, I wasn't sure if I remembered correctly, but it also happens when you DO pause the game! Imagine leaving the game on for a while and coming back to this

God I hope we get more games that have this sense of dread to them, I think what sets it apart from games like Silent hill is that the threat is straight up ghosts, something you can't fight, and can be anywhere at anytime, but it stays true to the survival aspect with the Camera

My favorite thing about Fatal Frame in that sense is the fact that the ghosts can chase you through different rooms. It takes away the safety factor altogether.

FF is the scariest game imo, ghosts appearing anytime and chasing you even when you change room.

yeah, that's my favorite thing about the ghosts

@KoeiTecmoUS @koeitecmoeurope Pls pls remaster the trilogy to all cconsoles

There’s also a scary face that shows up and phases in and out of the background in addition to the handprints iirc

Pretty much any 2000s horror game is gonna have a little surprise if you leave the protagonist idling. Even non-horror games. It did start has camera panning for CRTs, but most developers got creative with it early on.

i still remember correctly when i was 8 years old, my friend was playing this and about to show something cool in this game, and he shows me this and all i can remember when that blood hand shows on the screen i straight up running away 🤣 i thought the game was possessed 🤣
