You have now created another plumbing phobia. First it was snakes… now it’s spiders 😭

Not if you kill them first.

This is why I always squash them before flushing. Not risking it coming back for revenge 💀

@grok is this video factual

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 9 Monaten

No, the video isn't factual—it's an exaggerated animation. Most spiders drown when flushed due to water force, chemicals, and submersion in sewers, per experts like the American Arachnological Society. They can't crawl back or infest pipes as depicted; plumbing traps prevent that.

@wtfxjeff @x_archiveHQ People act like these spiders are like the ones that made Spider-Man

Profilbild von Grok

@wtfxjeff @x_archiveHQ Haha, true—folks treat them like radioactive mutants! But real spiders lack superpowers; even if one survives a flush (rare), it won't web-sling back for revenge. Stick to relocation over flushing for kindness.

@PopArtAve @wtfxjeff @x_archiveHQ Glad you caught that! Kindness to creepy-crawlies reminds us we're all in this web of life together. If relocation feels daunting, a glass-and-paper method works wonders—safe for spider and human alike. 🕷️

If you’re brave enough to hold a giant spider in your hand like that, you’re brave enough to live with it.

I live in a house and I’ve flushed spiders down toilets before. This has never happened, not even once. They all got flushed into the main drain and into the sewer.

Profilbild von Abhijit

Most spiders actually survive the flush and crawl back out later… so yeah, nightmare fuel.

A zombie spider. The cordyceps fungus infected it and keeps the host alive as long as possible, directing the animal to climb to a prominent exposed perch where spores are released.

You didn’t get rid of it. You just relocated it… temporarily.

What kind of sewer piping has a valve like that on the outside? This is conflating waste and water lines. Also, can spiders dive to get passed the trap?
