betteridge's law says NO. ("what if NO" there is no world in which bitcoiners would not reject this.)

What if the real outcome of quantum preparation looks exactly like Y2K, planes fly, banks open, and then everyone asks what the fuss was about? The mockery itself became the receipt that the threat was real and the work got done 👇

Then you’d be out of a job documenting bitcoin

the coins sat on addresses that have already spent are the exposed ones. a fresh address sorts most of it

Short version: the risk is mainly to coins with exposed public keys (old P2PK outputs, reused addresses), not to mining. SHA-256 holds up far better, and signature upgrades are already being debated. Simple habit for now: don't reuse addresses. ⛏️

This is the exact risk some of us have been talking about. Exposed public keys + strong quantum = real problem for a chunk of Bitcoin. @QuantusNetwork is one of the projects actually building with post-quantum signatures from the start. Still early, but the conversation is shifting.

Plain answer: no computer today can break a Bitcoin key, and the coins most exposed later are ones whose public key already sits onchain from old or reused addresses. First step: check whether you keep reusing one receive address.

Entanglement doesn't exist. Superposition doesn't exist. It's all science fiction.

quantum hacking bitcoin is the fear that never dies even when the timelines keep slipping

In any case, Bitcoiners don't represent the majority We can wait a little for the more fragile holders to get scared, but it will only be short-term

The narrative changes, it's a human problem not Bitcoin's, can you imagine humans are so advanced to the point that they steal Bitcoin using quantum computers. Are humans the virus now, as Agent Smith put it in the Matrix?

The scary scenario is less a sudden hack than a long window where old keys look soft. Which wallets are actually moving first on post-quantum paths?

@grok when I create a new wallet, make one spend-transaction, create then a new “receive address” within this wallet and transfer the btc to this new receive address…. is the public key exposed with this one transaction then enough for quantum threat
