The man is the fandom He keeps chasing the next thing comparing what he has to something else and only realizes the value of an era once Taylor has already moved on from it The casino can represent the music industry, the cage is fame, the electric fences are the limits placed around her, and (give the people what they want) is the expectation that she keeps feeding the audience exactly what they ask for. (The neighbor’s lawn) always looked better” = another era another sound another version of Taylor always seems better (Nostalgia as a weapon) = constantly using old eras to criticize the current one. (The self-harm of never being where you are) = never fully enjoying the era you’re actually living through. The man = the fandom The wife = Fountain Pen The son = Glitter Gel Pen Aunt Virginia = Quill Pen The girls at the bar = other artists / trends The wife’s mother = the exit into a possible fourth pen

Na because i was just thinking about it this morning. How the song fits so well to the reception her albums get. Each album people say they miss the previous one and that was her peak. We eventually come to love those songs but it might be too late
