So I think there should be debates generally. I don't think the party has any right to control the debates but I think how this was handled, you've got to be on the up and up here and you say you could do debate, do a debate! If you're gonna say other candidates can't do any other debate, but our debate, well, you definitely got to do the debate, right? So it has not been I think done properly and look, I mean, voters can make decisions about how they think of all that.”

🍀 when they (baseball players) have to apologize they apologize right away, when they want to say something they just do it. but if they think oh this is not.. they still apologize later on immediately i think things like that are very good. 🍀 im also this kind of style. if i have something to apologize for i do it right away. But i do tend to think about how to apologize beforehand. apologizing right away.. lets say i made a mistake and immediately go and say sorry it might not feel like a sincere apology.. so i'll think about it a little after that i'll go and say "im sorry i didn't mean it like that"

It's not something I like to talk about. But the academic presentation of AI risk is just not working. We need real human emotion in this debate. I've started a nonprofit, GuardRailNow, and I need your help. Our approach is unique: I do not come from tech. I cannot write code. I do not live in SF. I am not an EA. I am not a rationalist. I have never been to Silicon Valley. I'm a dad in Baltimore talking about AI extinction risk to other people like me. AI Safety loves selling Bibles outside churches, preaching to the choir. It's easy to talk to people who are like you. It's much harder to talk with people who are very different than you. So why would AI safety people, who are from/in the SF bubble, who use EA/rationalist speech patterns and thought, think they are in any way the right people to bring the message to everyone else?? They are not. If AI Safety wants to get regular people on their side here's a hint: get out of the way. You are the problem. You do not act or talk or think in ways that connect with everyone else. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. But our lives are on the line. Get over it and pass the ball to people like me.

I CHANGED MY MIND ON GOOGLE AI NO MOAT MEMO FROM 2023. I was—WRONG. I humbly apologize. In 2023 Google had an Ivory Tower walled garden views of open source AI. It was the actual reason OpenAI was formed. And I called them out on it and this act impacted my ability to “work in the industry”.
