What is PizzaGate? Pizzagate stems from the 2016 WikiLeaks release of John Podesta’s emails (Podesta being a senior figure in the Clinton and Obama administrations). The emails contained strange, seemingly coded references to food items like “pizza,” “hot dogs,” and “pasta” that appeared out of place in professional or... casual correspondence. 🔻 Notable Examples: —— Arrangements to fly in “$40,000 worth of hot dogs” to Washington, D.C. for events—unusual for such an inexpensive item. —— References to young children (ages 7, 8, and 9) being present at private gatherings, phrased oddly (e.g., “they’ll be there first”). These did not read like typical discussions of food or logistics, prompting speculation that the terms might be euphemisms for something far more sinister, such as children or illicit activities. Comet Ping Pong, a D.C. pizzeria repeatedly mentioned in the emails for hosting political lunches and parties (including Obama visits), became central. The restaurant was owned by James Alefantis, a well-connected political insider and partner of David Brock (Media Matters founder). Its public Instagram account contained highly disturbing material for a supposed family-friendly business. 🔻 Notable Examples —— Photos of children taped to tables. —— Captions and comments joking about rape, sexual abuse, and “kill rooms.” —— Creepy imagery of kids alongside posts about celebrity and politician visits. The content raised serious red flags, but much of it was quickly removed or minimized once public attention grew. Mainstream media reframed the entire topic into an easily debunked caricature: the claim that Hillary Clinton personally ran a satanic pedophile ring out of Comet Ping Pong’s nonexistent basement. This strawman ignored the actual emails, Instagram posts, and connections, allowing the legitimate concerns to be dismissed as dangerous conspiracy nonsense. The narrative triggered mass censorship—anyone raising questions was labeled a threat, and platforms removed related content without addressing the underlying issues. The story was further buried by a dramatic event: Edgar Maddison Welch entered Comet Ping Pong armed with an AR-15, fired shots inside, injured no one, and—by extraordinary coincidence—a single bullet passed directly through the computer’s hard drive in the back office (eliminating digital evidence). He was arrested immediately, quoted saying he now believed “it wasn’t real,” and the incident was used to portray anyone questioning Pizzagate as violent and unhinged. This shifted focus from unanswered questions to the supposed dangers of “conspiracy theorists,” enabling even stricter suppression. In essence, what started as scrutiny of peculiar email language, troubling public social-media content, and elite networks of people that were very likely harming children… it was repackaged into absurdity, then “discredited” through a remarkably convenient act of apparent self-sabotage.
