I like globes. Also Google Earth. I like Mollweide too, because it force’s you to remember that it’s a compromised projection of features that really exist on a spherical surface.

Honestly, depends on what you're trying to show. Mercator for navigation, Peters for fairness, Winkel Tripel for balance. No "best" just the best for the purpose.

Two things I notice: 1) That Eckert person seems to have spent a lot of time on this. 2) Antarctica is either incredibly massive or sort of tiny depending on whose map you use.
