It’s amazing what religions can do to people. It can create this extreme version of reality whereby they must humiliate themselves in order to be seen as virtuous & worthy. This is Shiite Muslims I believe, I could be wrong though.

Looks like Shiite Muslims in Kerbela self-chastising. Kerbela is the Shiite Muslims' holy city near Baghdad in Irak. These might either be Iranian Shiites that traveled there for pilgrimage, as far as I can tell from their language/singing. May also be Iraki/other Shiite Muslims. Quite some Irakis, especially Shiites, are of historical Iranian descent and still speak Persian/Farsi (the name Baghdad is an Iranian name meaning "God's gift"/"Given by god" and the very same meaning as the Slavic boys name "Bogdan").
