FLIED INTO WHATTTT

One of the greatest plays in baseball history, took away a grand slam and got an inning ending double play

This is what happened. The bases were loaded with one out. The batter hit the pitch deep to left-center. The CF almost made a great, leaping catch at the wall but the ball popped out of his glove before he could secure the catch. The ball then hit the yellow, home-run stripe on the wall before ricocheting back toward the field of play. By this time the batter has run safely to first with a base hit. All 3 base runners mistakenly think that the CF caught the ball cleanly for an out. Hence, they all tag up. However, the CF did NOT catch the ball cleanly. He caught the ball AFTER the ball ricocheted off the wall. The runner who tagged up on 3rd, tried to score, but was a FORCE OUT at the plate. The runner who tagged up on 2nd never tried to advance to 3rd (until it was too late) because he never realized he was being forced to 3rd. So the catcher trotted down the line to 3rd, stepped on the bag for the force out on the runner at 2nd. It all boils down to the baserunners mistakenly thinking that the batter had flied out to the CF and, therefore, that no force play was in effect. The baserunners never realized that the ball had bounced off the wall for a base hit and, therefore, a force play WAS in effect at every base!

Trying to explain to my family what’s happening in Game 1 of the NLCS rn

Yeah they’re the luckiest team ever

WHAT IS GOING ON

Nah what kinda ritual do the Brewers do in the clubhouse before the game 😭

Am I crazy?

GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE!!

Heck of a job by Frelick to keep it in the park, heck of a job on the relay to get the out at home, and the Contreras with the big brain getting the out at third. Legit one of the craziest plays in baseball history possibly.

The Brewers devil magic is real

I don’t understand how Hernandez didn’t score on this regardless of whether or not it was caught

Average Brewers play

Brewers are luck merchants wtf

There’s really no excuse to be thrown at home regardless of catch or no catch. How do you not tag up from 3rd with a ball hit 399 feet away and make it home?

This was such an insane play that probably last happened in 1895 between the Akron Child Laborers and Pottstown Red Stockings

Terrible baserunning by LAD. As soon as Frelick touches it, you can tag up and go. No need to wait to see if it's ruled a catch. At absolute worst for LAD, it might have been an RBI forceout at second base

Explain to the folks at home what just happened

Ball hit the wall, therefore no catch, but the Brewers got the force out at home, then the catcher ran down to third to complete the double play. Unless I'm missing something.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED

Give it to the umpires. They were on top of this one

Bob Uecker from above on this one

Your extra umpire failed to make any type of signal your umpire cost. The Dodgers runs. What is the point of an extra umpire if they’re just gonna stand there with their thumb up their ass?

THE GREATEST DOUBLE PLAY IN HISTORY

ABSOLUTE PANDEMONIUM

Dodgers don't know the rule. It's not on the catch to tag up, its contact on the glove. He went back to tag when ball popped out and back in the glove.

How the fuck is he supposed to know if it’s a catch or not you fucking morons. Fucking moronic @mlb

Just your casual 8-6-2-2 double play

Brewers devil magic holy shit can’t make it up

BOB UECKER JUST HAPPENED

He was safe. Fuck the brewers

That’s #UeckerMagic 👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

Terrible call. Ball off the wall, was not a catch. Terrible.

Teo is lazy af for not scoring there

That is the best throw from the wall to home plate I have ever seen. Wild play. Impressive throw. Good on the catcher to run to third to get that extra out with all the confusion.
