A 1000 volts and 12 amps will kill you. A 1000 amps and 12 volts will do nothing to you.

Imagine electricity is like water in a hose.. Voltage is the push, current is the flow .. and it's the flow through your body that can kill you, but you need enough push to make that dangerous flow happen.

The actual entity is electrons. Current depicts how much of it is available and flows and voltage its speed of flow.

Completing a circuit (current) by touching two live wires or a live wire and the ground is what kills you but you still need enough voltage to push those amps through your body which is resistance... I = V / R

Current is what actually harms and kills the body, but voltage is needed to push that current through your skin

Both are required.

Surely one is contingent on the other.

30mA is enough to disrupt the heart rhythm but without a significant voltage it won't be deadly, so I would say Voltage!!

Current!

It is the current that causes physical damage and death. However, the voltage is essential to "push" this current through the natural resistance of the human body.

zjednodušeně - čím větší napětí , tím větší smrtící proud tebou protlačí . 4mA je pro některé jedince už moc

Depends also on frequency if AC. But why are this dangerous switches operated manually and not automated?

It's like asking whether the gun or its bullet will kil you

From what I understand, electrons are the moving charges. Current is the amount of charge flowing through a point, and voltage is the push or driving force that makes those charges flow.

analogous to death by falling off a cliff. is it deadly because of the cliff height or because of the speed at which you hit the ground?

Here is a good answer to the question:

High Voltage and creating an unintended path for Current to flow. It doesn’t necessarily have to be high voltage.

Both, low voltage and high amperage= It only warms you up but doesn't kill you. High voltage and low current hurt, but it doesn't kill. 13,8kV nd 209 amperes standard distribution feeder or 2kV and 500mA from MOT transformer? Well, GG

Think of the Hoover dam. The water is the amps, the pressure against the dam is the voltage, and the dam is the resistance. It's the amps that get you, but without enough voltage and enough resistance, the amps wont find a path through you. 😎
